On December 24, 1999, Indian Airlines Flight IC 814 was hijacked by five masked men, plunging India into a week-long crisis. The flight, bound from Kathmandu to Delhi, was diverted to Kandahar after tense stops in Amritsar, Lahore, and Dubai. Captain Devi Sharan, forced by the hijackers, navigated the ordeal under extreme pressure. The hijacking, which saw the release of three terrorists, including Masood Azhar, ended with India’s government under scrutiny.
