Sri Lanka’s new President, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, has made it clear that his country will not be caught in geopolitical rivalries, particularly between China and India. In an interview with Monocle magazine, he stressed that Sri Lanka values both nations as friends and aims to foster balanced relationships. Under his leadership, the National People’s Power government plans to maintain non-alignment, working closely with China, India, the EU, and other global partners, while avoiding being “sandwiched” between larger powers.
