Judicial Boundaries: CJI Chandrachud's Strong Stand Against Controversial Remarks

In a recent Supreme Court hearing, Chief Justice Dhananjaya Y. Chandrachud firmly stated, “You can’t call any part of India ‘Pakistan’,” condemning comments made by Karnataka High Court judge Justice V Srishananda. The judge’s remark, referring to a Bengaluru locality, ignited public outrage and went viral. Although Justice Srishananda later expressed regret, the Supreme Court emphasized the need for judicial restraint, particularly in today’s media-driven world. Such casual remarks can perpetuate biases and must be carefully avoided to maintain the integrity of the judiciary.
