On September 17, 2024, Jio users across India faced a major network outage, causing widespread disruption. Down Detector recorded over 10,000 error reports by midday. Most users (68%) reported ‘No Signal’ issues, while others faced problems with mobile internet (18%) and JioFiber services (14%).
Frustrated users flooded social media, especially X (formerly Twitter), using the hashtag #JioDown to voice their concerns. Many complained about not being able to make calls or send messages, while others were unable to access the internet. Competing networks like Airtel and Vodafone remained fully operational, further adding to the frustration.
Memes and jokes quickly followed, with some users humorously blaming Mukesh Ambani for the outage, making #JioDown trend across platforms.
