Eighth-Grade Dropout Dupes Policewomen: Fake Cop Scheme Nets Over Rs 2 Crore

Rajan Verma’s elaborate scam involved posing as a police officer to deceive and extort women constables.

Rajan Verma, an eighth-grade dropout from Lakhimpur Kheri, was arrested after defrauding several women constables by pretending to be a police officer. Using photos in a fake uniform and accessing official postings, Verma lured his victims into marriage and extorted over Rs 2 crore. He was caught at Bareilly’s Satellite Bus Stand after one victim filed an FIR, revealing his deceitful tactics. Five cases are now registered against him.
