Forged permission slips allowed staff members’ children to attend trips meant for homeless students, says report.
Six NYC Department of Education employees have been accused of using forged permission slips to take their own kids on taxpayer-funded trips intended for homeless students. These trips, including a $66,000 Disney World excursion, were part of a program to offer enrichment opportunities for disadvantaged students. Investigations revealed that staff members used homeless students’ names to cover up their actions, robbing needy kids of valuable experiences.
