Delhi’s Bold Move: Complete Firecracker Ban Ahead of Diwali

Aiming to Combat Pollution and Protect Public Health

In a decisive action to tackle air pollution, the Delhi government has imposed a complete ban on the manufacturing, storage, sale, and use of firecrackers until January 1, 2025. This ban extends to online sales and delivery services, aiming to curb the hazardous air quality that worsens during winter months. Environment Minister Gopal Rai emphasized that this measure is crucial for public health, especially during the festive season. As the city gears up for Diwali, residents are urged to celebrate with eco-friendly alternatives like diya and sweets.
