During his appearance on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast, Downey revealed how a casual conversation with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige sparked his comeback. Initially hesitant, Downey was intrigued by Feige’s suggestion to take on a new challenge, leading to a meeting with Disney CEO Bob Iger, who gave his enthusiastic approval. Downey, known for his role as Iron Man, now embraces the darker role of Doctor Doom, stating,
“New mask. Same task. I like playing complicated characters.”
